Community Involvement

We take pride in our community and are dedicated to providing a higher quality of life for its members.  We promote social responsibility, encourage active participation and embrace positive change. We understand that our involvement will make a lasting difference that will help to ensure the long-term vitality of our community and its members.

Monthly Outreach

Each month the Portage District Office holds a community service event, in the past it has been food drives, pet supplies drives, and making chocolate covered candies that when sold go to a charity. The Portage Office of Northwestern Mutual strives to be connected to the community in which we are located.

JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT of Southwest Michigan

Among the many projects supported by Junior Achievement, we are proud to partner with this national program to support hundreds of students right here in Southwest Michigan.  Junior Achievement supports projects that teach young people about financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and developing work-readiness skills.  Their mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy and we are helping this great organization succeed in that mission through our sponsorship of the JA Titan Challenge Team

The Global JA Titan Challenge is based on JA Titan®, an online program that allows teams of high school and university students to act as chief executive officers of virtual manufacturing companies and compete to earn the highest performance index. The teams are prompted to make decisions that affect the profitability and sustainability of their virtual company and attempt to outperform their competitors in profit, sales, and market share.  They set prices, determine production levels, invest in capital, plan marketing and research, and development budgets.

We are proud to partner with Junior Achievement to reach young minds and encourage innovative thinking and business ownership.  We thank the leadership of JA for their hard work.
